An Oamaru woman has been arrested after breaching Covid-19 Level 3 restrictions when the vehicle she was in was spiked south of Oamaru this morning.
The vehicle failed to stop for police about 2am and after a lengthly pursuit in and around Oamaru, was brought to a halt when road spikes were deployed by police in State Highway 1 at Alma.
Senior Sergeant Jason McCoy, of Oamaru, said the male driver and 25-year-old female passenger both fled the scene on foot, but the latter was apprehended a short time later and charged with breach of bail.
The man remains at large.
Inquiries are continuing.
