A woman was flown to Dunedin Hospital this morning, in a critical condition, after being hit by a truck on Thames Highway at the northern end of Oamaru.
The woman and another pedestrian, who sustained moderate injuries, were in the middle of the road, between Forth and Don Sts near the A&P showgrounds, when hit by a south-bound Courier Post truck about 2.50am, Sergeant Wayne Brew said.
The pair were taken by ambulance to Oamaru Hospital and the critically injured woman later flown to Dunedin by the Otago Regional Rescue Helicopter.
Police inquiries are continuing.
