Nobody has come forward with information about the poisoning of gum trees in the Oamaru Public Gardens last month.

A Waitaki District Council arborist discovered the alleged intentional poisoning of several mature gum trees at ‘‘Milligans Corner’’ and the council appealed to the public for information.

Three trees showed signs of dieback and had holes drilled into their trunks.

Yesterday, council recreation manager Erik van der Spek confirmed he had received no information from the public.

‘‘We won’t know if the trees will survive for some time yet and we continue to monitor their health,’’ he said.
