Police are yet to make an arrest more than two weeks after an Oamaru motel was allegedly robbed by an armed man.
Police were called to the Ascot Oamaru Motel, next to the Galleon Family Complex, between Redcastle Rd and Fernbrook Rd, on State Highway 1, about 8.10pm on February 4.
It is alleged a man being sought by police, described as a Polynesian of solid build wearing a black shirt, black puffer jacket and blue jeans, threatened staff with a weapon and demanded they open the cash register.
Police have not revealed the type of weapon used in the robbery.
A police spokesman said no arrests had been made and was unable to confirm if police were seeking more than one person in relation to the incident.
However, it was believed the man might have had an accomplice who waited outside while the robbery was carried out.
Speaking the day after the robbery, the motel manager, who did not wish to be named, said staff involved did as they were asked and the man fled with a ''minimal amount of cash''.
The robbery was the second in Oamaru in the space of two weeks, after the Meadowbank Dairy at the intersection of State Highway 1 and Don St was targeted on January 21.
A 21-year-old Oamaru man, Tanera Malachai Otene,
was arrested and charged with theft and aggravated assault in relation to that incident.
