Alliance Group Pukeuri meat processing plant manager Geoff Proctor addresses the crowd before opening new gates at the plant entrance yesterday, to mark 100 years to the day since the plant opened.
Mr Proctor said that during that time, the plant north of Oamaru had processed 90 million sheep and lambs and 1.1 million cattle.
The steel gates, which were manufactured in Christchurch and incorporated an Oamaru stone wall, were commissioned for the centenary, he said.
