A new electoral officer has been appointed for for the Waitaki District Council.
The council's administration manager Debbi Miall takes over the role from Joanne Firman, who has overseen local body elections since 2001. The appointment of the electoral officer and reappointment of deputy electoral officer David Blair starts the process leading to council elections later this year.
Enrolment confirmation forms will be sent to registered voters before April 30 and a preliminary electoral roll will be compiled between July 12 and 21.
The notice of election will be advertised on July 21, and nominations will open and the roll will be open for inspection on July 23.
Nominations close at noon on August 20 and voting papers will be mailed out between September 17 and 22. Voting closes at noon on October 9.
