The historic Mill House at Waianakarua will become a new venue for artists and crafts people to sell their wares at a monthly fair which starts tomorrow.
The idea has come from proprietor-owner of the Mill House, Sue Fraser, as an added attraction for the restored mill, making use of its surrounding, well-established garden.
She told the Otago Daily Times yesterday that 10 stalls were expected for the inaugural fair.
"It's a good start, and I expect it will grow during the summer.
"It's something new for the area and part of plans to change the style of the Mill House, giving people a chance to enjoy the gardens and the cafe" she said.
The stalls will all feature local artists or crafts people and will sell a wide range of items, including woodwork, paintings, crafts, plants, hand-made chocolates.
There will even be a Christmas gift stall.
Inside the Mill House, a gallery and gift shop were being established.
During the fair, the Mill House will offer Devonshire teas.
The fair will run from 10am to at least 2pm and be held on the first Sunday of every month.
