Oamaru police are searching for a teenager who fled the scene of a car crash in North Otago last night.
Emergency services were called to a single vehicle crash in Herbert-Maheno Rd about 7.30pm.
An Oamaru police spokeswoman said the 19-year-old Oamaru male driver was speeding, and tried to turn into Breakneck Rd, near Herbert, and rolled into a ditch.
The driver ran from the scene, as he was wanted for other driving offences, including a warrant for his arrest for driving while disqualified. Police dogs traced the area for a while, but were unable to find anything.
The vehicle’s four passengers received minor injuries and one was taken to Oamaru Hospital with a possible fractured wrist, the spokeswoman said.
Police were still searching for the man today.
