The first of the prefabricated buildings was delivered to the Humber St site in May.
Groundworks had started earlier that month.
At the time, the ministry announced an official opening should be held sometime on June 17-19.
Courts Minister Chester Borrows said yesterday the ''final touches were being added to the Oamaru court hearing facility''.
''The construction of the building and the internal fit-out is more-or-less complete.
"However, some work on the installation of the building's IT network has taken longer than originally planned,'' Mr Borrows said.
''This work includes the digging of a trench and installation of an underground network cable, and overall IT testing.''
The ministry was working with the vendor and, weather permitting, hoped to have the work completed by early next week, he said.
''Once IT systems are up and running, the building will be officially opened for business,'' he said.
''Planning for the opening is under way and I hope to be able to confirm a date soon.''
In the meantime, Oamaru District Court hearings will continue to be held in the Oamaru Opera House.
