Mr Jurisich, who resigned in August from the development board, will finish work in Oamaru on October 17 and start in Hokitika on October 20.
He has accepted a position as general manager of a department being established by the Westland District Council.
His duties will include management of the Wildfoods Festival, visitor information centre and museum, and events promotion and tourism marketing for the Westland district.
The role was "very, very exciting" and not dissimilar to what he had been doing in Oamaru, he said.
Mr Jurisich came to Oamaru in 2006 from Greymouth, where he was a marketing general manager.
He and his wife, Leeza, had enjoyed their time in Oamaru and were looking forward to returning to the West Coast.
