The reputation of the annual Whitestone Winter Festival as a fun event has spread to such an extent that a record number of people are expected at this year's event at Camp Iona, Herbert, this weekend.
Organiser, Dunedin author Keith Tonkin, said 116 people had registered for the festival, and he expected the limit of 120 to be reached by the weekend.
The festival is in its 15th year and is becoming well known among the folk music community.
This year, the festival has three guest artists - Dunedin Russian guitarist Alexey Medvedev, Christchurch group the Blues Mamas and Dunedin guitarist Rob Waddell - who will also run workshops.
There will also be workshops, blackboard concerts, guest concerts, a barn dance, a poets corner and impromptu jam sessions.
The big event is the Sunday evening cabaret concert, this year with a medieval theme.
