A key event on the Oamaru calendar will be held earlier than usual this year.
Totara Estate's festival "Harvest Home" has been set down for Sunday, April 5.
The festival celebrates the traditional end of harvesting, marked when the last sheaf of wheat is gathered and stored.
The event is organised by the owners of Totara Estate, the New Zealand Historic Places Trust.
Trust Heritage Destinations manager, Paul McGahan, said yesterday the festival had been held since 2004.
The passion and enthusiasm shown by the North Otago community for the event had ensured it would be an annual one.
The trust would soon be inviting expressions of interest from the community for people and groups to be involved with food stalls and hosting events at the festival.
Mr McGahan said that heritage, and its protection and promotion, mattered in North Otago, making "Harvest Home" a key event.
