The dredging of Oamaru Harbour's entrance has been delayed.
The work, by Rooney Earthmoving, under contract to the Waitaki District Council, was supposed to start this month but has now been delayed until next month because of technical problems with the dredging equipment, the council's corporate services manager Stephen Halliwell said yesterday.
The contractor is waiting for parts from overseas.
Mr Halliwell hoped the technical problems could be resolved quickly so the harbour could be dredged in October.
The council was aware of the difficulties experienced by boats at the harbour entrance since the August storms, and thanked those using the harbour for their patience.
