Generators out of action

Water spills over the Waitaki Dam near Kurow.A Transpower spokeswoman said maintenance work was being carried out on a transformer at the Waitaki substation and as a result, three generators were out of action. 

As the generators were unable to produce electricity, water would be spilled until the work was completed on Tuesday.
