All up, the bill for roads damaged by the late November storm would total nearly $1million for the district.
Mr Jorgensen said the hole caused in Westview Dr, in Weston on November 22, was not repaired before Christmas due to contractor availability and other clean-ups across the district.
''It's a big deal,'' Mr Jorgensen said. ''It's quite a complex site ... it's got quite a lot of utilities nearby that are all affected. And it's a big culvert. It's a major, major repair.''
Fire crews discovered the hole as they pumped flood water threatening homes in nearby Grove Ave last month.
The flooding was caused by a blocked culvert under Westview Dr that eventually collapsed.
The Oamaru area experienced a record 217mm of rain in November, more than five times the long-term average of 44.7mm for the month.
About $600,000 worth of damage was caused to other roads in the network.
The NZ Transport Agency was expected to help with some of the costs.
