A Facebook site was set up yesterday calling for those supportive of the school and rector Paul Jackson to post comments.
It warned negative comments were not allowed.
The site is a counter to others that have carried mostly criticism of the situation at the school. Its board of trustees is dealing with complaints and comments from 17 people filed with the Ministry of Education.
The board is also handling a serious incident involving a senior staff member and the teachers' union, the Post Primary Teachers Association, was at the school on Thursday to investigate a possible breach of the collective agreement involving timetabling.
The timeline on the new support site says ''This is for those who are supportive of Waitaki Boys' High and the new rector.''
While no specific person was identified as creating the site, it said they were students.
It asked for ''positive comments for Waitaki Boys' and the new rector from students, parents, teachers and the wider Oamaru community''.
It advised negative comments could be posted on another Facebook site.
''We will not allow any bullying on this page. Negative comments will be deleted. Comments under anonymous names are fine,'' the students' site said.
By about 5pm, it had four likes but no comments.
