Oamaru hotelier James Glucksman poses with York Minster - in gingerbread form - in Oamaru yesterday.

Mr Glucksman and his partner James Boussy have been making gingerbread miniatures of famous buildings for Christmas since the late 1990s. The two men started when they lived in Virginia, in the United States, and kept up the tradition when they moved to New Zealand and bought Oamaru's Pen-y-bryn Lodge.

They have now re-created in gingerbread their luxury lodge in Oamaru, Christchurch Cathedral, Germany's Neuschwanstein Castle, England's Exeter Cathedral, Belgium's Belfry of Bruges, the Waitaki District Council building and the Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of Saint Peter in York, also known as York Minster, from England.
