The flowers for guinea pigs Snowy and Squirt, who live at the early childhood centre, are not the only things children - and Little Wonders - have gathered from the section over their back fence.
The Little Wonders board bought the roughly 1000sq m lot in Trent St behind its centre and has plans to build a Little Wonders Wilderness Garden there.
The children watched in amazement as the derelict house was demolished, Mrs Cleverley said, but not before the children removed plants from the gardens and potted them at the centre.
Little Wonders also recovered stainless-steel benches and coloured windows from the previously vacant house.
The early childhood centre planned to create a sheltered outdoor learning centre and a vegetable garden to complement the three age-separated play areas and gardens already used at the centre.
For the past two weeks Little Wonders had been asking for suggestions from the 130 families whose children spend time there.
The new outdoor education area had no defined plan or timeline for completion.
Little Wonders was still in the ''consultation phase'', Mrs Cleverley said.
