Police are investigating two crashes in North Otago at the weekend, piecing together what caused the Oamaru incident, and a car to roll on its side 5km north of Kurow.
About 4.30pm yesterday, emergency services attended the two-car crash at the intersection of Wansbeck and Tees Sts.
A St John spokesman said a 19-year-old woman was taken to Oamaru Hospital with minor injuries.
One of the drivers, Gordon Kawau, was on his way home to Southland when the crash occurred, causing his car to roll.
Two of his hunting dogs escaped from a cage on the back of his vehicle.
One returned, but 6-year-old Mana, a white greyhound-Labrador, was missing.
"He’s my main dog, but I’m quite confident — he’s registered and microchipped so I’m confident he will be found."
On Saturday about 11.20am, emergency services responded to a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 83 between Otematata and Kurow.
A St John spokesman said a 30-year-old male was taken to Timaru Hospital in a moderate condition.
