Emergency crews clean up at a single vehicle crash near Oamaru yesterday.

Constable Rory McGeown, of Oamaru, who attended the crash yesterday said the driver of the blue Mazda hatchback was ``fortunate'' her car did not travel further off the road in the wet conditions about 10.30am yesterday.

The single occupant of the vehicle was uninjured, but her car left Beach Rd and came to rest about 4m from a 10m vertical drop on to the beach.

Const McGeown said the crash served as a reminder that roads were ``greasy'' in the rain and drivers should drive to conditions. Police inquiries were continuing yesterday.
