A person who advertised firewood from Cape Wanbrow for sale on a website is now being pursued by the Waitaki District Council.
After logging operations finished on the cape, the council made permits available to people to harvest firewood from the debris, but on the condition it was for their own use and not for sale.
Recreational manager Erik van der Spek was aware of only this one breach of the permit conditions, and believed most others were complying.
The council had been told of an advertisement on a Facebook page for wood for sale, claiming it was from the cape.
When the council went to the site, the post had disappeared.
''However, we have a name and we have been trying to contact that person,'' he said.
Any person breaching permit conditions would not get another.
The council limited permits to 50 a week and all were taken up during the three week offer.
Further logging is being carried out on the cape and, once completed, permits would be available again.
