Community Constable Bruce Dow said three complaints had been received from home-owners regarding alleged thefts from their property, all of which had occurred after contractors had worked inside their homes.
''To date and from identified victims, in excess of $1000 in cash is involved and a quantity of jewellery of unknown value, some with sentimental as well as financial value included.''
However, he said the alleged thefts had in some cases not been reported to police until two years later, because home-owners had not realised items had been stolen.
He said police wanted to hear from anyone who may have had property stolen while a contractor had been in their home. The contractor allegedly responsible had been identified, but the name was not being made public, he said.
