The Tuvalu children's group performs at the Oamaru Opera House on Saturday night.

The sixth Oamaru multicultural concert was another well-attended affair, said Sandra Tonkin, of the Waitaki Multicultural Council, who co-organised the concert with Safer Waitaki's Helen Algar.

There was "great energy'' in the building and the performances were "all pretty special''.

"It's always great when the community comes together,'' she said.

"There's heaps of talent in Oamaru.''

Pasifika Engagement Officer at Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology Sela Faletolu came to Oamaru and, just two days before the concert, co-ordinated a combined performance by Maori and Pasifika students from the town's three high schools, a highlight on the night, she said.

Polish, Indonesian and South American performers came from Christchurch for the Waitaki multicultural celebration, which happens every two years.
