Lachlan (16) has been selected for the Otago under-16 boys team to play Canterbury in Christchurch next week, and Alice (14) will play for the Otago under-15 girls team.
It will be Lachlan's first time representing Otago, while Alice made the same team last year.
Their uncle, Andrew Hore, is a former Otago representative player.
All-rounder Lachlan was about 9 and a pupil at Five Forks School when he started playing cricket, while Alice, a medium pace bowler, was a similar age when she took up the sport.
Both are now at boarding school in Oamaru, with Lachlan beginning year 12 at Waitaki Boys' High School and Alice year 10 at Waitaki Girls' High School.
While Lachlan has played cricket for North Otago since he was in year 7, and is in the school's 1st XI, there was no local women's competition for Alice to compete in.
Before Christmas, she played in a Waitaki Boys' year 9 team.
Another North Otago cricketer, Lucy Paton, is in the Otago team with Alice, along with Jodie Gibson, formerly of the Hakataramea Valley, and now living in Middlemarch, while Lachlan was the sole North Otago representative in his team.
Watching both teams play was going to be a dilemma for the siblings' parents, Barry and Jayne Kingan.
"I hope they are on the same side of town," Mrs Kingan said.
Lachlan also plays rugby and will travel to the Gold Coast for a school rugby trip in April.
Alice also plays badminton, touch, tennis and hockey.
