A second biblical village has appeared in North Otago as a Wellington-based company prepares to film a feature about the life of Christ.
The latest film set (above), for Kingdom Come, is at Elephant Rocks, inland from Duntroon.
Construction of a larger set is already well under way at the Falstone camping and recreational reserve on the shore of Lake Benmore, near Twizel, recreating the Sea of Galilee fishing village Capernaum, home to Christ during his ministry.
At Elephant Rocks, Southern Vineyards Ltd is due to start filming in February, and is casting extras now.
Up to 400 people could be employed at the peak of the production.
Production of the film in Otago is due to finish in early March.
Buildings will be removed and both areas returned to their original state.
Filming will then shift to other locations in Motueka and Hawkes Bay.
