Oamaru Intermediate School is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
A group of founding pupils have organised a reunion, which will take place from October 20-22.
People are expected to attend from all over the country and overseas.
The celebrations will begin on the Friday morning with an assembly at the school.
Attendees will then have a short tour of the school and a chance to meet current staff.
The final registrations for the weekend will take place at the Oamaru Club that evening.
On the Saturday, the group will have photos taken at the school in their year groups.
There will then be a reunion dinner at the Oamaru Club.
They will also have something organised for the Sunday morning to farewell everyone who came from out of town.
The reunion is being organised by a committee of three founding pupils: Ray Henderson, Julie Pringle and Robyn Keno.
Mr Henderson was looking forward to reliving some great memories with his old classmates.
"The dinner on Saturday night — we just have a dinner.
"We don’t have music, we don’t have a band or anything because we’d rather just chat.
"It’s all about reminiscing."
He was hoping 70 people would attend, but it had been difficult to invite everyone.
"We’ve tried to blanket it on social media.
"But not everyone is on social media, especially in our age group."
Intermediate schools played an important role in helping pupils move from primary to secondary school, Mr Henderson said.
"It really fills a niche in between primary, where you’re just a kid, to secondary, where you’re a young adult.
"This is a nice transition."
