Work on Beaumont bridge replacement under way

Work has begun on the new Beaumont bridge across the Clutha River on State Highway 8. Piles are being driven into the bed of the river for the construction of the new two-lane bridge. The three-year, $25 million project will replace the existing 137-year-old single-lane bridge with the new bridge built just downstream.
