Unlawful users of wireless networks are operating again in Central Otago, and police are warning computer owners to be aware.
Alexandra senior sergeant Mike Cook said a person in a car was found using a laptop computer and connecting via another person's wireless connection in Shannon St in Alexandra recently.
Snr Sgt Cook said the routers used with wireless connections came with default passwords which many people knew.
It was very important to have that password changed, he said. Anyone who was not sure how they could change their password should call their nearest computer company for advice.
