About 100 people attended the launch in Alexandra on Monday night of a collection of winning garments from the annual WoolOn Creative Fashion Event.Members of the Alexandra Blossom Festival committee, Central Otago District Council, and sponsors of the fashion event gathered at the Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery to enjoy the cocktail evening.

Blossom festival committee WoolOn liaison Jill Tosswill said the collection was the committee's way of giving something back to the community.

The collection, which included last year's winning garment by Woodend tailoress Donna Hansen, would be accessible to the public through the museum.

Mrs Hansen said her coat titled "Wolf With The Red Rose" was 100% wool with an Angora lining, and took about two months to make.

Central Stories director Brian Patrick said the collection would be stored in the museum until space was available for a permanent display.

WoolOn previously ran as a part of the Merino Shears competition.
