Alexandra woman Ngaire Woodward is coming home to Central Otago today after being injured by last week's tsunami in Samoa.
Mrs Woodward (60), broke her pelvis when she was swept through two walls of a building by the force of the tsunami.
She was flown to Auckland on a Royal New Zealand Air Force Hercules.
The Hercules arrived in Auckland at about 2am on Saturday, and Mrs Woodward was taken directly to hospital.
Her husband Mike said she was in good spirits and would fly south from Auckland today, and would be taken to Dunstan Hospital, Clyde, this afternoon.
"Since being in Auckland she's had a CT scan and one side of her pelvis is pretty smacked up. But at this stage she's in good spirits and even tried the walking frame.
"Victim support people have talked to her and say it's unbelievable how well she is doing," he said.
Mr Woodward said their four adult children - who are in Auckland - would return to Central Otago this week.
"A couple might come back [today], and the others might come back with Ngaire," he said.
Mrs Woodward left Alexandra on September 22 to travel to Samoa with good friend Jill Barron.
