More than 30 contestants lined up for the races which were run with two contestants at a time, to ensure the safetyof those taking part.
Trolleys were of all shapes and sizes, from the closed-in, motor-car type to large, spidery-looking craft with very large wheels.
Phil Crosbie was watching from the sideline as well as helping out with any "off road" experiences.
He recalled racing trolleys many years ago down clock hill in Alexandra, on a gravel road, and before that there had been races down Aronui Rd.
Mr Crosby and his son Dylan had built their latest creation and Dylan and his sister Reyana had had great fun trying it out.
