Three injured in crash

Three people were taken to hospital with serious and moderate injuries following a two-vehicle collision on Earnscleugh Rd, near Alexandra, yesterday afternoon.

One vehicle contained two women and the other  a woman and two men.

One person  trapped in a vehicle  was removed by emergency services, a St John spokesman said.

The three women were injured in the crash and  one with serious injuries  was  flown to Dunedin Hospital,  Detective Sergeant Derek Shaw, of Alexandra, said.

A 19-year-old man appeared in the Alexandra District Court yesterday on three charges of careless use of a motor vehicle causing injury.

He will appear again  on February 20.
