A spate of thefts from Cromwell cars at the weekend prompted a warning by police for residents to secure vehicles.
Sergeant Mike Williams said property was stolen from six vehicles.
"The vehicles were mostly left unlocked and it appeared the offender or offenders were on foot, trying car door handles as they walked along," he said.
Property taken included electronic gear, a GPS navigation unit, binoculars, CDs and money.
"We've taken some forensic evidence, so we're waiting on the outcome of that, but we'd also like to hear from anyone with any information," Sgt Williams said.
He issued a reminder for residents to secure their property to avoid "opportunistic" thefts taking place.
