Alexandra's temperature gauge has reappeared in time for the coldest months of the year.

The instrument was removed more than four months ago from the top of a Centennial Ave pharmacy to be fixed, after it malfunctioned.

Murray Bell, who owns Shoes Unlimited Alexandra across the road, welcomed its return last week.

"People passing through get their picture taken with it when it's -10degC.''

A lot of people commented on its return, he said.

In February, Unichem Alexandra Pharmacy owner Christine Galbraith said a local man was trying to source special LED lights required to fix the device.

A temperature gauge had been displayed at the site for more than 30 years.
