A shoestring budget meant the New Zealand representative team, also known as Team Hood, stayed at the Calgary Retirement Home as they attempted to qualify for the World Championships.
It is hoped that holding the golf tournament fundraiser, dubbed the Swifty Open, would help get the team to more qualifying events in Canada and Europe.
Vice-skip Brett Sargon said the team was on the right path and hoped the events this year would get them over the line and allow them to qualify for the 2026 Winter Olympics, to be held in Italy.
Sargon said it was hoped the remaining openings for the golf tournament were filled as it allowed the team to maximise their fundraising opportunities.
The Swifty Open would be held on February 8, at the Naseby Golf Club and would be an 18-hole "Scramble" event [sometimes called an Ambrose event], made up of teams of five.
Sargon said players in the tournament could expect good beer and food provided by Royalburn Station as well as some great prizes and giveaways.
