For Rosie Greig (left, 10), of Rolleston, and Lauren Gray (10), of Alexandra, learning about the Samurai warriors of Ancient Japan as part of the Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery school holiday programme was ''really fun''.
''The Samurai were a type of detective and they had a war that moved all the power to one clan in Ancient Japan,'' Rosie said.
Lauren said she enjoyed learning how to make a bow and arrows and how Japanese was written, but the best part of the day was making ''sushi balls''.
Museum project manager Rachel Checketts said 10 children attended the final of the three days put on by the museum. The first focused on Ancient Greece while the second on Victorian England.
She hoped to run a similar programme next school holidays.
