The T&G Cool Store in Ettrick will trade apples for catwalks on Saturday for the second incarnation of the fashion show.
Held every second year during the valley's Tartan Time festival, the awards celebrate the Scottish heritage of the area by encouraging designers to create with tartan.
Ettrick's Holly Pringle (12) won the Lads and Lasses section at the first awards in 2014 with her shoe design ''walking on eggshells'', and is entering the section again this year.
''It seemed like a cool idea,'' she said.
''I got a lot of help from Mum.''
This year she and her mother Bronwynn will also take on the sports section with their ''flying Scots'' piece which Holly will model.
''Holly came up with the idea and designed the tartan. I threw it all together,'' Mrs Pringle said.
''It was a bit of a mission, but it did turn out to be fun in the end. It took a while to paint and it was quite fragile.''
The awards brought out hidden talent in the district, she said.
''It's cool that it's just something a bit different to go to,'' Mrs Pringle said.
All garments are kept secret until the reveal on the night.
Event committee spokeswoman Trudie Marsh said almost all 342 tickets were sold.
The inaugural show was held at the Roxburgh Town Hall, but was shifted to its new, larger location due to demand for tickets.
''It will also create a different atmosphere, which we're calling industrial with elegance.''
More than 50 garments have been entered, many of which are from the designers in the valley.
The event has new categories this year including bra design and an award for the performance of the models.
On Sunday the valley would host its Kilt Canter where tartan-clad athletes will walk or run a 5km riverside track starting from Pinders Pond to the riverside reserve beside the Roxburgh bridge.
It would also hold a tartan mufti day on Friday with gold coin donations going to St John.
