Adrienne Lamb, Heather Horswell and Nigel Murray say they have organised a series of hands-on sustainability workshops as they believe the "time is right".
"It's about how to live sustainably in this world that's trying to change, or going back to where we were," Mrs Lamb said.
The group has organised the free workshops under the umbrella of the "Living Sustainably in Central Otago" initiative.
Three workshops will be held in Alexandra: a session on electric vehicles that will allow people to take a ride in an electric car and also find out about domestic solar electricity systems; a tour around Central Otago Wastebusters to find out more about recycling; and a composting workshop near a food forest that is being established in Alexandra.
Mrs Horswell encouraged those who were interested in adopting more sustainable practices but "don't know where to start" to come along and get "hands-on".
