A new subdivision planned for the outskirts of Cromwell which was originally opposed by the Central Otago District Council's planning consultant has been approved.
The 4.84ha residential subdivision, which borders McNulty Rd, near the town's industrial area, will contain 26 residential lots ranging in size from 568sq m to 896sq m.
The Central Otago District Council hearings panel granted land-use consent for the subdivision with no conditions.
The hearing was held on October 14.
Planning consultant Charlie Hughes, who presented evidence on behalf of the subdivision's developer, Summerfields Estates Ltd, said ''basically everything'' asked for was approved.
He said it was likely sections would go on sale ''pretty soon''.
