Quiz night organiser Becky Bruhns said the evening raised $15,000 with the quiz, an auction and raffles.
"This is approximately 12% of our overall goal, which is absolutely fantastic."
Given the economic climate, which was making things difficult for everyone the amount raised was outstanding, she said.
The result was testament to the incredible generosity of all their sponsors and those who attended, entered a team, bought raffle tickets or bid in the auction.
"We would like to send our greatest appreciation for the support you have given us in our fundraising efforts."
About 23 students, teachers and parents will go to Vietnam for a cultural and historical experience in April next year.
The fundraising committee hoped to cover about half the $250,000 it would cost for the group’s trip and was on target to meet that goal, Mrs Bruhns said.
The next fundraising event would be an art in the garden auction, at Clachanburn Gardens, at Patearoa, next month.
