McWas (the Moa Creek Wine Appreciation Society) meets each year at the maimai to enjoy a morning of duck shooting and then enjoy some good wine and a barbecue.
Members had shot a dozen ducks between them.
Each year for the past five years they have brought a bottle of their best vintage, and this year they had a special treat, opening a magnum of Mt Edward pinot noir, the wine chosen by Queen Elizabeth when she celebrated London winning hosting rights for the 2012 Olympic Games.
Kathleen Dundass-Jones said the wine 47% of the vintage was grapes from The Stonehouse, at Clyde, which she used to manage, and Alan Brady from Mt Edward Winery had given them the magnum as thanks.
