Three roaming dogs involved in an attack on a Bannockburn man yesterday have been impounded.
The man received buttock puncture wounds in the attack at a Bannockburn property and phoned police at 12.39pm, a police spokeswoman said.
The Central Otago District Council's planning and environment manager Louise van der Voort confirmed a Staffordshire bull terrier cross and two mastiff cross dogs were later impounded by the council.
The victim had minor injuries and sought medical treatment, but did not require an ambulance, the police spokeswoman said.
Police and council staff were working together to identify the dogs' owners.
Police wanted to hear from anyone who had had trouble with roaming dogs recently in the Bannockburn area. Anyone with information was asked to contact Constable Sam Rundle at the Cromwell police station on (03) 445-1999.
