Teams of searchers are still combing the area around the Manuherikia River as the search for missing Alexandra man Christopher Bates continues.
About 25 Land Search and Rescue (SAR) volunteers searched the area around the Alexandra railroad bridge yesterday and about 10 were continuing the search today, Detective Sergeant Derek Shaw said.
Mr Bates was last seen in Alexandra on February 11. Police held grave concerns for his safety and would continue searching for him until he was found, Det Sgt Shaw said.
Searchers this weekend were combing dense vegetation on the banks of the Manuherikia River, going over previously searched areas in more detail.
Det Sgt Shaw asked the public to remain vigilant, and report anything unusual to police.
