Roxburgh residents will have to wait a little longer for a decision on their proposed new swimming pool.
Central Otago District Council (CODC) corporate services manager Heather Kinsey told Roxburgh Community Board members at the monthly board meeting they needed to go back to basics and decide the demand and purpose for the pool.
If a decision was made to build a pool, the board had several options: building the pool and running it; building it and letting volunteers run it; setting up a trust, with the community raising the capital funds, and meeting all the operating costs; or providing the land and building, and contracting a trust to operate the pool.
Ms Kinsey said the council would be allowed to pass $37,000 collected annually in rates for the pool to a trust, if that was the board's choice.
The board will put the options to the next meeting of the swimming pool committee, early next month.
