Chairman Shayne Hitchcock said a "good turnout " at a meeting this week ensured the promotions group was back on its feet.
"We've got some very enthusiastic people on board and the committee is a mix of new businesspeople in town and some old, experienced hands, but all with the same idea: Alexandra needs a good promotion group."
Mr Hitchcock (50), an Alexandra businessman and co-owner of the Centennial Court Motor Inn, also works as Lake Dunstan enforcement and education officer during the boating season, meeting visitors in both roles.
The promotions group's structure remained in place even though the group effectively folded about 18 months ago, he said.
"The meeting of the newly-revived Alexandra business group in February or March rekindled interest in the promotions group. We all have a common goal of wanting this town to prosper better than it is now."
The group would be seeking funding from the Vincent Community Board's contestable promotions fund and other funding avenues, and looked forward to working alongside the board and the Promote Dunstan group, Mr Hitchcock said.
"Everyone thinks this area has lots of potential and we want to co-ordinate things so everyone gets a good bite of the pie."
Promote Alexandra's activities would depend on funding, but the first task would be to update the Alexandra website, webcam and weather station set up by the organisation a few years ago.
The ultimate goal was to employ a co-ordinator, rather than depend on volunteers to fill the role, but that would depend on how the group performed and the availability of funding.
"Our main objective was to get this up and running again and we're looking for new ideas and observations from the community about how we can better promote the area."
