The area was the scene of another fire just months ago.
Inquires continue into the blaze, which police believe may have been lit intentionally.
It occurred around 8.30pm on Thursday and could be seen from throughout the town.
Clyde Chief Fire Officer Richard Davidson said there was another fire there a few months earlier.
"There were nice cabbage trees and a bunch of ornamental stuff people had been planting to beautify the area. It’s sad to see it go up in flames.
"The fire was pretty spectacular."
It took 16 firefighters about an hour to extinguish the blaze.
