Cherries are beginning to blossom and other stone fruit trees are setting across the district.
Webb’s Fruit owner Simon Webb, of Cromwell, said the orchard had had "very few" frosts this season.
"That gives the trees a good start and helps with blossoming."
The warm weather meant trees blossomed a few days earlier than last year but it was too early to say when picking would begin, he said.
"At this stage the apricots are looking really good. We’ve got a nice crop coming in this year.
"We’ll be frost-fighting for about another month yet."
The orchard would start hiring seasonal workers soon, with some starting next week, he said.
Darling’s Orchard owner Stephen Darling, of Ettrick, said the orchard had enjoyed a mild spring.
"We haven’t had many frosts so far. Overall the weather has been good."
Warm, light winds had assisted bee pollination, he said.
Orchardists were hoping for continued warm weather and for no hail or heavy rain, Mr Darling said.
Leaning Rock Cherries manager Pete Bennie, of Alexandra, said there would be "plenty" of cherries in time for Christmas.
"Everything’s blooming, lots of bees."
The orchard had about half the number of frosts compared to last year, he said.
