Ranfurly's dog control officer has had her car "keyed" prompting a warning from the Central Otago District Council that intimidation tactics will not work.
The vandalism happened on Saturday, when the vehicle was parked at the control officer's home, council planning and environment manager Louise van der Voort said.
Every panel in the car received deep scratches and the aerial was broken.
"The damage is extensive and costly to repair," she said.
The car was targeted the previous week as well, when a tyre was slashed.
The matter has been reported to police.
"If it is connected to the dog control officer's work, intimidating behaviour like this won't stop us enforcing our dog control obligations," she said.
The annual survey of residents throughout Central Otago highlighted dog control issues as being important to the district's residents.
"People are fed up with wandering dogs, aggressive dogs and dogs fouling paths and parks.
That's what they tell us," Ms van der Voort said.
Senior Constable Steve Burke, of Ranfurly, said police were investigating the incidents and would like to hear from anyone with any information about the vandalism.
