No plea over charge of causing death

A Central Otago man has appeared in the Alexandra District Court on a charge of causing the death of Poolburn man Richard Kohler.

Gary Andrew Dick (42), a heavy truck/trailer driver, of Springvale, entered no plea in front of Judge Michael Turner.

Dick is charged with causing the death of Mr Kohler on February 28 by carelessly using a motor vehicle on Chatto Creek-Springvale Rd while driving on the wrong part of the road.

Mr Kohler died at the scene after his motorcycle collided with the truck driven by Dick. 

Counsel for Dick, Joseph Mooney, sought a sentencing indication.

Judge Turner remanded Dick until November 23 for a sentencing indication hearing.
