The Community Advisory Group comprises members appointed by the boards of the nine PHOs which have merged to form the Southern PHO. From today, it will represent Otago-Southland people south of the Waitaki.
Southern PHO chairman Conway Powell said the group would advise the PHO on regional direction and strategy after consulting other groups in their respective communities.
Chief executive Ian Macara said the new PHO, representing 280,000 people, would build on the strengths of all its member PHOs.
The large PHO was formed as the result of a decision by the Otago and Southland district health boards in late 2009.
